It is a representative part of the city forming a compact of historic units. Sights focused on the Main City make it a tourist center of Gdansk, and the name of this area is often confused with the Old Town, which is located to the north of the Main Town, but its historic urban fabric has not been restored after World War II.
The most important monuments of the Main City include: St. Mary of the Assumption, Golden Gate, Main Town Hall, Artus Court, Neptune Fountain and the historic axis Royal Route consisting of The Long Street and Long Market.
